Job Description

We are looking for an IRATA L3 Rope Access Supervisors who are passionate about enhancing the rope access industry with Pacific Ropes. In this role youll be responsible for working with our Alberta Regional Manager and our team of rope access technicians in a refinery in Fort Saskatchewan.

Ideally you will have:


  • L3 IRATA Certification.
  • OFA Certification
  • Insulation experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to Detail
  • Supervisory experience
  • Passion for leading
  • Experience working on industrial worksites oil refineries
  • Wide experience working with different trades and in different industries with rope access
  • Thorough understanding of health and safety procedures and practices
  • Follows procedures but also have the ability to see the bigger picture in order to help improve current processes
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Sense of humour
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to maintain calm during stressful situations
  • Strong knowledge of the IRATA ICOP TACS and SPRAT Safe Practices
  • Strong knowledge of current Alberta health and safety regulations
  • Open to learning and trying new things

Responsibilities include but arent limited to:

  • Preparing safety and rigging paperwork for job sites
  • Ensuring your teams are following Method Statements Risk Assessments Rescue Plans and other safety paperwork
  • Communicating with the Project Manager on job site updates
  • Managing and supervising your rope access teams to ensure safety and efficiency on site
  • Managing any conflict resolution within your teams
  • Working with the Project Manager to complete work scopes on time and within budget
  • Managing rope access equipment on site
  • Communicate with clients professionally
  • Perform additional rope access duties as pertaining to your IRATA training level (aid climbs rigging rescue hauling and lowering etc.
  • Work closely with other trades to accomplish mixed work scopes in professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain a high level of quality assurance
  • Adhere to site specific rules and regulations
  • Maintain personal kit equipment and conduct equipment checks on a regular basis.
  • Maintain and utilize group work equipment effectively minimizing and preventing damage.
  • Assist in set up and take down of personal and group equipment at each job site.
  • Evaluate environment to identify and assess work problems and create solutions to improve productivity and product quality.
  • Be responsible for personal safety and safety of coworkers.
  • Follow and abide by the method of work for each scope of work.
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work with other subcontractors.
  • Attend daily safety meetings to review the daily Field Level Risk Assessments. Sign off on the daily FLRAs.
  • Review and sign off on the Master Risk Assessment and Method Statement for each job site.
  • Review and sign off on the Rope Access Work and Rescue Plan for each job site.
  • Understands the hazards and controls of each job site.
  • Follow and abide to the regulations in the Pacific Ropes Contracting Employee Manual.
  • Read and follow the Pacific Ropes Rope Access Operating Procedures.
  • Complete daily tasks in the allotted time frame.
  • Be a good representative of Pacific Ropes on site to clients and general public.
  • Identify and report to supervisor any unsafe practices at work and/or any damage.
  • May perform other job duties as required.

This is a full time contract job that will last for 24 months.
