Job Description

Bilingual Patient Service Representative

As a Bilingual Patient Service Representative who can uphold our Mission Vision and Values. In this position you will perform a variety of patient focused duties including greeting patients/guests and overseeing the flow of patient traffic in the waiting room areas. You will work closely with all departments to ensure flow and accuracy of information meets their needs. This position will provide accurate and effective interpretation of procedures and other interactions for nonEnglish speaking patients their families and staff (in person or on the phone).

Greet all patients and visitors in a friendly professional and efficient manner.
Notify Outreach and Enrollment staff of uninsured patients.
Comply with regulations standards and directives from Open Door Health Services regulatory agencies and thirdparty payers.
Provides accurate and effective interpretation of procedures and interaction for nonEnglish speaking patients their families and staff (in person or over the phone).

Vision ODHS preferred partner in East Central Indiana for improving the wellbeing of individuals and the communities in which they live:
Exceptional customer service skills.
Make reminder calls to patients and complete any preregistration tasks.
Accurately perform complete registration of patient clinical financial and demographic information in Athena.
Responsible for the verification of insurance eligibility.
Distribute and collect the new patient packet forms.

Willing to continually update skills and knowledge regarding healthcare procedures.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
Collect payments from patients for charges and copayments at time of service.
Reconcile monies collected to the Manage Time of Service Money report at the end of the day.
Maintains a signin log of vendors students and volunteers.
Copy patient documents for assistance programs and forward to appropriate staff.
Responsible for seeing that the building is secured in the evening.
Might require traveling to other locations.
Other duties as assigned.

About you:
Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.

Able to multitask.
Can work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Able to work with a high degree of precision and attention to detail.
Able to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Great telephone and computer skills.
Able to work unsupervised.
Requires standing walking or sitting for long periods of time. Occasional bending stretching or lifting up to 40 pounds.
Requires the ability to work under stressful situations.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range or use of approved adaptive equipment

Typical Working Environment:Frequent exposure to communicable diseases toxic substance medicinal preparations and other conditions common to clinic environment. Tasks involve contact with blood or body substances.

Education:High School diploma or GED equivalency preferred.

Experience:Must be bilingual in English and Spanish. Experience in a health care setting and/or in an office preferred. Previous experience as a receptionist and/or Checkout preferred.
