Your team

The mission of the Markets and Investments Advocacy team is to effect change that makes investing easier and more accessible for people around the world. We drive growth by introducing new ways to modernize markets and set industry standards and we anticipate challenges by engaging with internal and external stakeholders early and often ensuring that BlackRocks and our clients interests are advanced and protected.

Our approach to advocacy is centered on three pillars:

  • Setting our strategy: We connect horizontally across our markets and investments businesses and with our partner teams to identify the most pressing issues for our clients and our business to drive commercial growth. We build alignment and create visibility around our priorities to improve market investability promote investor access and protection and support innovation.
  • Activating the industry: We engage with external partners in and around the capital markets ecosystem (e.g. liquidity providers index providers trade associations exchanges and policymakers) to identify areas of shared interest and amplify our impact.
  • Telling our story: We use our voice to advocate for investors and our clients and shape how we show up in markets. This includes establishing our principles aligning key internal stakeholders and creating content and thought leadership to educate investors and build awareness externally.

Your role and impact

We are seeking a Vice President to lead critical initiatives to advance our markets and investments priorities. This person will play a meaningful role researching and analyzing competitive and industry dynamics and unlocking growth partnering closely with the Head of Markets and Investments Advocacy and teams across BlackRock.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead a subset of BlackRocks markets and investments advocacy priorities including developing principles engagement strategies and activation plans. Topics may include ETF innovation digital assets retirement private markets and market structure modernization.
  • Identify opportunities for BlackRock to play a leading role in transforming markets including ways to engage partners across the capital markets ecosystem to build support.
  • Collaborate with BlackRocks Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team to execute on public policy initiatives (e.g. responses to regulatory proposals supporting business leaderships meetings with policymakers etc..
  • Create a feedback loop into the markets and investments business around market changes enabling us to go to market quickly capitalize on opportunities and absorb industry change back into our operating model and procedures.
  • Respond to adhoc requests for content feedback and insights (e.g. input for town halls Board meetings briefing memos etc.
  • Contribute to thought leadership that supports the strategic direction of the Advocacy team (e.g. whitepapers OpEds social media activations)

You have

  • A passion for markets with asset management expertise strongly preferred
  • An interest in public policy and an investorfirst mentality with a desire to effect significant change
  • Exceptional judgement with ability to independently lead crossfunctional projects with a high degree of visibility
  • Excellent written communication skills with proficiency in adapting communication styles based on format (e.g. memos whitepapers etc.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience engaging and influencing a diverse set of partners including senior leaders
  • Proven project management and organizational skills with high attention to detail and sense of urgency
  • Ability to work in entrepreneurial environment and to be a motivated and adaptable selfstarter


For New York NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$137500.00 USD$194000.00 . Additionally employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and benefits including heath care leave benefits and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a payforperformance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role location and firm department and individual performance.
