1 temporary fulltime position for 8 months intended specifically for students currently enrolled in a management information systems statistics business administration commerce computer science or related coop or equivalent postsecondary work experience degree program commencing in May2021
Analytic whiz ready to hit the ground running with a high performing Community Standards and Neighbourhoodteam Read On!
Under the direction of the Business and Compliance Analyst you will provide analytical support for the Community Standards and Neighbourhood Department. You will be accountable for research data collection modelling visualization and analysis to support various levels of the department. You will coordinate and translate this data to the Peace Officer Section to support intelligent deployment decisions.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide analytical support to the Community Standards Peace Officer Section
- Support the Business and Compliance Analyst to analyze enforcement and compliance data
- Assist in the development of effective data collection and reporting mechanisms including neighbourhood trend analysis chronic offender identification heat mapping causation analysis risk terrain modelling dashboards etc.
- Assist in the development of performance reports with critical analysis of activities to support enforcement resource deployment and service improvements
- Review and evaluate processes and procedures and provide recommendations
- Conduct research and environmental scans of other municipal enforcement business models and compliance trends; review case studies conduct and analyze citizen surveys and community feedback
- Assist in the production and drafting of council reports annual reports etc.
- Currently enrolled in a management information systems statistics business administration commerce computer science or related coop or equivalent postsecondary work experience degree program
- Enrollment in 3rd or 4th year or an MBA program is considered as an asset
- Demonstrated ability using Google Applications
- Computer and software savvy specifically in working with analytic dashboards and business process/planning software
- Ability to communicate effectively to multiple audiences; ability to synthesize relevant data into cohesive and useful information
- Handson experience in writing queries in MySQL or Microsoft SQL
- Analytical ability data interpretation and problemsolving skills
- Excellent interpersonal relationship building organization and time management skills
- Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
- Experience with GIS or POSSE is considered as an asset
- Knowledge of law enforcement activities legislation processes policies procedures trends service delivery and case law is considered as an asset
- This position will be a combination of working from home and onsite working conditions. Working conditions will follow the Government of Alberta Health recommendations
