Job Description
The Associate Director of the Qualitative Data Repository QDR leads curation activities and directs the daily operations of QDR . The Associate Director sets policies and strategic goals for the repository with guidance from the QDR Director leads the process to acquire grants and other funding including memberships and partnerships and directs research conducted by QDR . The position is a .85 fte hybrid position and requires 12 days of inperson attendance/week. This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU Local 200United.

Responsibilities
Develop policies for the repository and its membership in alignment with best practices and emerging technologies through proactive strategic planning. Plan programmatic updates and anticipate potential challenges within the industry its data sources and member users. Conduct evaluations to ensure progress in accordance with the needs of QDR data producers collection users and new technology. Use data from evaluations to develop and inform planning for future program objectives. Work collaboratively with the Director of CQMI (principal investigator) by leading deliverables related to research projects for the QDR . Develop research proposals and manage the grant funding and assignment of resources for research projects. Promote QDR its relationship with the Center for Qualitative Multimethod Inquiry and the users achieved through presentations at conferences as the Universitys representative development and maintenance of the website and coordinating with the member users through collaborative meetings. Complete complex research activities that contribute to related publications. Present on research conducted at national and international conferences. Identify external funding opportunities and prepare the preaward grant applications in coordination with the Office of Sponsored Research. Lead and manage the postaward requirements of QDR related grants as well as the budget and assignment of grant resources managing compliance with the grantor Moynihan Institute and the Office of Sponsored Research. Monitor through active relationships and best practices institutional and organizational landscape of data science in the United States and anticipate any necessary updates and/or changes to the QDR program to stay competitive. Present new innovative plans and ideas in the area of research related to data repositories and industry best practices. Train supervise and manage QDRs curation staff (graduate assistants and hourly staff) to ensure careful complete and timely curation of QDR data. This includes developing and maintaining standards that achieve consistent methodologies to ensure the research community can use this data source and follow best practices. Continuously monitor and revise and improve QDRs curation procedures to ensure alignment with national and international standards and best practices. Build and maintain relationships with staff in analogous positions at other data repositories and libraries. Identify plan and develop opportunities for QDR events and workshop. Oversee events conferences and workshops hosted by QDR . In a typical year QDR will conduct 23 workshops at academic conferences 34 webinars (often at member institutions) and host 12 inperson events ranging from small 1030 person workshops to larger events with 50100 participants held off campus. Lead many of the workshops and webinars and leads the organization of larger events. Lead QDRs communications and correspondence internal and external to Syracuse University; serve as the main point of contact for all internal and external inquiries and communications. Other duties as assigned.
