Job Title

Corporate Automation Director

Position Overview

This role will provide leadership for automation strategy and implementation for the enterprise. This role will lead discovery and creation of automated solutions automation software support systems automation integration and technical education resources.

Scope of Work:

  • Automation Strategy for the Enterprise

  • Enterprise Automation manufacturing distribution and logistics.

  • Architecture design.

  • Integration of solution including controls.

  • Support existing automation and control systems in Operations.

  • Utilize V model process to implement solutions.

  • Technical Education for automation and maintenance skills.

  • Automation Systems and Software Leadership

  • Creation of automation standards

  • Automation governance ownership


Scope of Responsibility: The Automation Director will be responsible for:

  • Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic thinking abilities to assess the organizations needs identify automation opportunities and develop a comprehensive automation strategy aligned with business objectives. This involves understanding industry trends evaluating emerging technologies and mapping out longterm automation roadmaps including budgets. Working collaboratively with Enterprise partners to identify gaps and propose high value productivity automation solutions.

  • Change Management: Automation initiatives often involve significant organizational change. The director should possess excellent change management skills to assess the impact of automation on employees facilitate change communication and provide necessary training and support to help the workforce adapt to new automated processes.

  • Leadership and Collaboration: Strong leadership skills are crucial for driving automation initiatives. The ability to inspire and motivate teams foster collaboration and build strong relationships with stakeholders across different departments is essential. The director should effectively communicate the benefits of automation gain buyin from key decisionmakers and lead by example.

  • Business Acumen: Understanding the organizations business processes goals and challenges is essential for an Automation Strategy and Systems Director. This includes aligning automation initiatives with overall business strategies identifying areas for process improvement and demonstrating how automation can drive efficiency cost savings and enhanced customer experiences.

  • Continuous Learning: The field of automation is rapidly evolving. Successful directors should have a passion for continuous learning staying abreast of the latest automation trends attending industry conferences and webinars and networking with other automation professionals. This ensures that the director can bring fresh ideas and innovative approaches to automation strategies and systems.

  • Owner of automation standards and governance for the enterprise

  • Governance of new automation projects

  • Selling and communicating the story Able to take a complex subject and simplify. Communication with all levels of the organization.

  • Enterprise thinking

  • Ensure efficient discovery and of solutions via external partners/integrators where appropriate.

  • Project Management: The ability to effectively manage automation projects from initiation to completion is essential. This includes defining project scope creating implementation plans allocating resources managing timelines and coordinating crossfunctional teams. Strong project management skills are required to ensure successful automation system implementations.

  • Plan and Execute Integration Activities: The Director is responsible for a detailed integration plan that outlines the specific activities and tasks required for a successful integration.

  • Coordinate CrossFunctional Teams: The Director plays a crucial role in coordinating crossfunctional teams involved in the integration process. They facilitate communication and collaboration between teams from different departments or entities to ensure smooth integration.

  • Measure and Track Integration Success: The Director establishes key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the success of the integration. They track and analyze integration outcomes assess the achievement of synergy targets and adjust as needed to ensure desired results.

  • Ensure Compliance: The Director ensures that all integration activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements. They work closely with legal and compliance teams to address any legal or regulatory issues that may arise during the integration process.

  • Provide PostIntegration Support: Even after the initial integration is complete the Director may provide postintegration support to address any ongoing integration challenges. They monitor the postintegration performance identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations for further optimization.

  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with automation projects including data security compliance and operational risks. Ensure adherence to relevant regulations policies and industry standards throughout the automation lifecycle.

  • Grow and develop team through the pX and P4P processes. Provide the environment for a high performance team.


Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree; a degree in an Engineering discipline is preferred.

  • 10 years experience in a key leadership role.

  • Proven performance in strategic planning project and leadership.

  • Demonstrated success in Automation processes and largescale rollouts

  • Passion and experience in Automation Ideation

  • Experience w/ Continuous Improvement Methodologies
