General Overview:

The Leave of Absence Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and administration of the leave of absence process for employees. Responsibilities include interpreting policies and instructing employees and managers on proper process/procedure maintaining records and reports related to leaves and maintaining communication to all involved in process across the Partners Healthcare system.

Responsibilities:

Provide guidance in interpreting leave policies federal and state leave laws & leaves covered under a collective bargaining agreement for employees managers and HR generalists.
Provide instruction to employees department managers and HR generalists on appropriate procedure for leaves.
Work closely with occupational health staff on status of leaves.
Process leaves in PeopleSoft system.
Develop and send applicable letters to employees detailing the status of their leave application and leave implications (pay benefits return to work etc..
Maintain accurate records of employees on leaves.
Act as timekeeper for employees on leave.
Instruct timekeepers on appropriate time reporting during leaves utilizing applicable policies.
Create monthly reports on leave trends including current leaves returns from leaves and leave volume processed.
Communicate with customers and provide timely followup to questions concerns and issues.
Develop and maintain leave materials for managers and employees using printed and online mechanisms.
Provide information on the process to HR staff using online materials.
Provide backup support to benefit staff leave coordinators during busy seasons vacations and other times as requested.
Work closely with HR Generalists and Employee/Labor Relations on various leave issues and concerns
Support Annual Open Enrollment
Participate in various leave and benefit projects as assigned.

Bachelors Degree preferred with a concentration in Human Resources or related field preferred.
35 years of intensive benefit experience preferably benefit specialist or human resource generalist experience.

Skills Abilities Competencies:

Thorough knowledge of benefits including Long Term Disability Short Term Disability and Workers Compensation
Indepth knowledge of Family Medical Leave Act other applicable laws hospital leave policies as well as leaves covered under collective bargaining agreements.
Ability to manage and coordinate complex processes.
Ability to connect both technical and process implications to pay and benefits.
Strong customer service communication and organizational skills.
Ability to communicate with all levels of employees and management.
Strong computer skills with knowledge of MS Office applications including database and web based systems. PeopleSoft and Microsoft Access skills preferred.
