Job Description
APYA coordinators will help lead worship services facilitate conversations and provide religious education to the Chautauqua community during the Summer Assembly. Coordinators will also have an opportunity to develop their own group project based on mutual interests and vocational goals.
About Your Compensation
Compensation for this position is $15.50 USD per hour.
About Your Workday
As an Abrahamic Program for Young Adult (APYA) Coordinator you will:
- Contribute to and participate in existing programs 60 of your time):
- During Weeks One and Two attend as many different religious services as possible. You can learn more about the different denominations and religious organizations here;
- Attend Sunday morning worship services hosted by the Department of Religion;
- Attend and help with Q&A during the Interfaith Lecture Series;
- Participate in training for CHQ Dialogues facilitation join facilitators lunch and participate in one Dialogue session each week. Learn more about CHQ Dialogues here;
- Organize and lead Jumuah services each Friday afternoon. The Muslim coordinator(s) may be asked to lead the prayer some or all the weeks but all coordinators will be involved with organizing the content of the informational portion and setting up/breaking down each week;
- Help with religious education programs as requested;
- Attend and participate in the Interfaith Sacred Song Service;
- Represent the Religion Department at programs and events as requested;
- Identify other programs of the Department of Religion and/or community groups that you are interested in observing participating in or contributing to. Including but not limited to: Chautauqua Mystic Heart Meditation Labyrinth and Denominational House Social Hours.

- Work collaboratively with your fellow coordinators to create and implement a new group project based on your mutual interests in consultation with your supervisor;
About Your Schedule
Chautauqua Institution and Chautauqua Hotel Company offer flexible schedules full and parttime for seasonal employment during summer operations starting annually each June and concluding in August. Seasonal employment may be available earlier (preseason) and beyond season (postseason) based on business needs and candidate availability.
While you will confirm your final schedule at the time of an interview and offer of employment you should generally anticipate the following schedule options for this position:
You will be scheduled to work an average of 40 hours/week spread across six days. Scheduled hours will include evenings weekends and holidays based on business needs. If you foresee going above 40 hours of work in a week please speak with your supervisor to seek approval first.
Your first day of work will be Tuesday June 17 2025. Your last day of employment will be on Sunday August 17 2025.
About Living on the Grounds
Employer provided housing is included with this position. You will have your own private bedroom but you may have to share a bathroom with members of the same sex.
