The Technical Assistant reports to and functions under the general supervision of the Operations Manager.
Receives direct supervision from technical staff and the lead technologist in Imaging. Aids the technologist in performing daytoday operations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees the departments stock supplies (monitoring and replenishment) including linen gowns and patient food items.
Willingly offers and assists Physicians and Technologists as necessary during the study; works in harmony with others and functions as a team member. Maintains testing area in an orderly manner prepares equipment.
Maintains professional effective and constructive working relations and communication with departmental staff hospital personnel.
Achieves positive relationships with patients families visitors and other healthcare providers and contributes to a favorable public image of the overall hospital.
Participates in the screening of patients prior to testing.
Prepares the patient for testing (escorts patients to changing room prepares barium drink for the patient etc).
Position MR patients in the scanner.
Clerical duties i.e. Answer phones; make patient folders photocopy etc. Lifts moves transports and positions patients for diagnostic studies.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Works with computer programs including RIS ROE Imaging tools.
Pages and/or makes phone calls as requested by technologists. Maintains QA logs (Hand Hygiene refrigerator department logs) Any other related duties as directed by the Lead Technologist and Operations Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates Degree; Previous Medical experience preferred. BLS certified.
SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
Knowledge of universal precautions.
Knowledge of medical/Radiology supplies.
Knowledge of materials equipment supplies and procedures.
Knowledge of proper radiation safety/protection procedures.
Knowledge of aseptic technique.
Knowledge of the principles of growth and development of infant early childhood late childhood adolescent young adult adult senior adult and geriatric patients. Must posses the ability to assess patient specific data relative to age specific needs and provide age appropriate care.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to lift/carry up to 35lbs be able to lift position push or transfer patients have manual dexterity and mobility.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: List the number of FTEs supervised. None
