Job Description

Primary Purpose:

To develop implement monitor and coordinate the Family Services area in accordance with all applicable guidelines and to train mentor and support staff to achieve program goals.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university in Social Work Sociology Psychology or related field (Case management work experience may be substituted for a degree in an unrelated field)

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking and decisionmaking skills
  • Ability to interact with diverse populations
  • Ability to identify and solve problems
  • Ability to work cohesively on an interdisciplinary team
  • Proficiency with a variety of software including Microsoft Word Excel Power Point Publisher and Access
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking skills preferred

Experience:

  • Three to five years experience in social human or family services
  • Three years experience with casework and supervision

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Model HCDE and Head Starts mission vision and values.
  2. Work with interdisciplinary teams to ensure integration and consistent delivery of all Head Start services.
  3. Develop a written plan and procedures for implementing the Family Services component of the program.
  4. Regularly review program reports to monitor compliance in Family Services and other program areas.
  5. Provide training on program procedures and general training that promotes effective case management services and family engagement.
  6. Provide onsite mentoring to Family Services Providers on a regularly scheduled basis to ensure the effective delivery of services to families.
  7. Provide ongoing professional development and feedback on specific performance objectives to Family Services Providers.
  8. Develop relationships with service providers and community members to support the ongoing recruitment of eligible children.
  9. Maximize program resources through the community and affiliated agencies.
  10. Maintain the confidentiality of information.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
