Job Description

Job Title: Fulltime High School Math Science Teacher

Location: French American Academy

Job Description:

The French American Academy is seeking a committed passionate and qualified Math Science Teacher to join our dedicated team and our International Baccalaureate (IB) program. The successful candidate will be teaching a combination of math and science subjects in English from grades 69 initially with the opportunity to teach higher grades as and specialise as the schoole expands. Significant teaching experience and/or education qualifications ability to differentiate and to teach through projects inquiry and concepts is desireable.

Key Qualifications:

  1. A Bachelors or Masters degree in Sciences/ Math / Education or other related fields.
  2. At least 13 years of teaching experience with understanding/experience of the IB program desireable.
  3. An excellent understanding of child development the latest education theories and practices and current trends in education and professional development.
  4. A growth mindset with openness to feedback and a willingness to take risks.
  5. Proficiency in Google Workspace applications including but not limited to Gmail Calendar Google Classroom and Drive (Docs Sheets and Slides).
  6. Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.
  7. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  8. Open to teach IB program and other subjects.
  9. Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop engaging studentcentered lesson plans for grades 69 and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with complex learning profiles.
  2. Attend regular department faculty and other meetings ensuring that you stay aligned with the Academys goals and directives.
  3. Foster an inclusive working and community environment that encourages diversity and mutual respect.
  4. Evaluate each students progress in mathematical knowledge and skills providing feedback and additional support as needed.
  5. Ensure vertical alignment of coursework to provide students with a meaningful and comprehensive scope of study.
  6. Effectively manage time to meet deadlines adhere to a daily schedule and structure classes to maximize opportunities for student learning.
  7. Embrace authentic assessment innovative pedagogies discussionbased learning and projectbased learning.
  8. Comfortable with technology including using online texts iPads Learning Management Systems and computer systems in a classroom setting.
  9. Develop the participation of certain classes in mathematics competitions and take care of/take the lead on the organization of these competitions
  10. Willingness to facilitate a school club or sport after class one or two afternoons per week
  11. Develop a Mathematics High School Program aligned to International Baccalaureate (IB) state standards and school objectives.
  12. Write articles on mathematics teaching methods aligned with the French American Academy curriculum and their application in classrooms
