JOB POSTINGDiesel Power Technology InstructorQUALIFICATIONS:Vermont Licensure in Technical Education/Diesel Power or ability to gain licensure via Teacher Apprentice ProgramAssociates Degree or six years of industry experienceAbility to take and pass PRAXIS examSuccessful experience in teaching and managing standards to meet the state plan for technical education preferredSUPERVISOR:Career Center AdministratorPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:COMMUNITY AND PARTNERSHIPSWork with an advisory committee to develop improve and revise curriculum.Communicate with post secondary partners to design and teach dual enrollment college courses.Collaborate with business partners to establish meaningful industry experiences for students.Advocate and market program to prospective students and greater community.Communicates all aspects of the program to parents.Coordinate transportation needs.Manage parts ordering billing and organization of external projects. STUDENT RELATIONSHIPSEstablish and maintain clear expectations for appropriate behavior in class and while participating in job shadows.Effectively communicate with students and parents. Assist students in developing a sense of personal and social responsibility.Demonstrate ability to differentiate instruction to a wide range of student abilities.Facilitate the independence of the student as a learner.Assess students and use information to plan and implement appropriate instruction.Provide formative evaluations that measure student progress towards course objectives.Provide summative evaluations that measure student achievement of course objectives.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESManage the budget of the program and supplement the budget when possible with grants and donations.Establish and maintain an active advisory committee in accordance with the state plan for Career and Technical Education meeting at least two times per year.Maintain an accurate and current inventory of equipment and tools as required by local and state rules and regulations.Participate in professional development and learning opportunities.Actively participate as a member of the broader school community in communicating and adhering to the mission philosophy and goals of the Center.Other reasonable duties as assigned by the administration. GENERAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to establish and maintain effective relationships with students peers and parents.Demonstrate skill in oral and written communication.Demonstrate knowledge and expertise of agricultural mechanics including diesel power technology. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory specific to this field. Demonstrate knowledge of special education regulations and ability to carry out student IEP accommodations and goals.Type 2 bus endorsement or ability to obtain.Ability to push or lift 50 lbs.Maintain safety training certifications related to the field.
