Southeastern Louisiana Universitys Department of Teaching & Learning invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Education. Faculty will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to effective instructional practices. Site supervision may also be a part of the faculty members teaching load. The successful candidate will be expected to advise teacher candidates maintain regular office hours participate in service to the University College and community and other such assignments directed by the Department Head.
As this is a tenure track position the successful candidate will be expected to teach educational methods courses and curriculum development teach in the graduate program supervise and assist with clinical practice experiences and maintain an active research agenda (including publications professional presentations and external grant proposals).
Additionally knowledge related to managing practices for accreditation (e.g. data collection continuous improvement) and writing accreditation reports is required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Earned doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction Educational Research or Educational Leadership or related discipline with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in methods and/or curriculum development courses from an accredited university by hire date.
Teaching experience in education.
Experience observing and scoring lessons using rubrics (e.g. NIET/ATR CLASS COMPASS).
Must meet SACSCOC credentials to be able to teach the coursework for graduate level curriculum & instruction classes as well as being able to mentor graduate students and align coursework for accreditation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Teacher certification and 3 years of experience teaching in Grades PreK12 settings.
Experience writing accreditation reports and developing and maintaining quality assurance systems for accreditation.
Research interest in one or more of the following areas: curriculum development program redesign instructional strategies school improvement or assessment.
