How will I help

As Westpacs Chief Engineer (WIB Digital) you will be responsible for driving the technology strategy and development of technology frameworks to create of a seamless digital face to customers of Westpac Institutional Bank (WIB).
Working across multiple Lines of Business you will lead a talented team of Engineers for enabling business objectives to be delivered efficiently and effectively keeping our Engineering Delivery Teams at the forefront of industry evolution in software engineering in the digital space.

This role is preferably based in Sydney.

You will also be responsible for:

• Lead the WIB Digital engineering capability
• Drive strong engineering and devops practices leveraging the best of WIB and Westpac capabilities
• Drive technology choices in collaboration with architecture the WIB Digital village and the Lines of Businesses (LOBs)
• Maintain close collaboration with Line of Business digital delivery teams to ensure common components delivered by the WIB Digital program can be leveraged in a timely and efficient manner
• Actively partnering with divisional and enterprise Architecture functions and broader Westpac digital teams to refine the WIB Digital technology roadmaps ensure engineering and design choices are compatible with Westpac standards and promote through the relevant Design Authorities
• Providing clear direction and advice on digital engineering best practices standards and guidelines to enable build of a consolidated digital platform for WIB
• Engaging and partnering with the Line of Business digital projects and product teams in design of a WIB digital Technology Framework and driving its development
• Working in collaboration with the Chief engineers and Lineof Business Service Owner (Leads) to integrate line of business technologies with common WIB digital capabilities.
• Coordinating the planning and of Proof of Concepts in close collaboration with the WIB Digital village and lines of business
• Assessing and understanding the evolving digital requirements of WIB Line of Business digital teams to ensure their experience in achieving their daytoday outcomes is optimal be an advocate for WIB engineering teams engaged in the digital space

What do I need

• You will be a selfstarter able to work self sufficiently
• Strong engineering leadership experience in a modern digital environment leveraging agile and devops prinicipals preferably in a finance domain
• Advanced knowledge of presentation integration and enabling technologies in the digital space across a range of patterns libraries languages and technologies
• Track record of engaging managing and influencing diverse stakeholders and priorities
• Ability to pragmatically balance timeline pressures with strategic and architectural objectives
• Proven communication and presentation skills in a technology domain delivered to a GM Level audience
• Ability to play a mentoring relationship for the wider team
• Power to exercise governance and best practise
• Desire to be constantly challenge and develop new knowledge
