Responsibilities:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is expected to demonstrate the ability to multitask by working with multiple patients handling multiple phone calls to include appointment related calls refills referrals and authorizations. This position must display flexibility by working with different positions and in different departments as required. The LPN is responsible for EMR documentation patient care from check in to check out to include vitals updating patient information and patient education. This position requires independent assessment skills sensitivity to patient needs and the ability to work and make decisions based upon education and experience. In addition the LPN is expected to consult the physician or clinical nurse supervision on an as needed basis for any issues they are unable to or unqualified to handle independently. This position is expected to perform all other assigned tasks within the scope of their certification.
Qualifications:
This position requires a current Georgia Practical Nursing license and some clinical experience involving direct patient care. Phlebotomy experience is also required. CPR certification must be earned in the first 6 months. Candidates must possess caring compassionate qualities with good communication interpersonal and organizational skills. Medical office experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to apply standard nursing techniques to a wide variety of patient care situations.
General knowledge of primary care patients and baseline knowledge concerning the cardiac pulmonology and endocrine disease processes.
Experience in the utilization of an electronic medical Record for office patients (ex: eMDs Athena etc.
Experience with pharmaceutical prior authorizations and pointofcare testing.
Ability to perform blood draws and administer injections.
Ability to perform Basic Life Support and CPR to respond to a patient in cardio/pulmonary arrest.
Ability to perform basic computer skills and knowledge and ability to complete medical charting to include ICD and CPT coding.
Customer service skills to include a professional but friendly disposition.
Flexibility and a willingness to accept change.
Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations.
Awareness of when to seek help from supervisor to handle situations.
Ability to work independently while possessing sound judgment and understanding as to when to involve the physician.
Possesses a positive attitude flexibility initiative and the
ability to communicate effectively to serve our patients and work
collaboratively with our team.
