JOB OPPORTUNITY

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Camp Staff Supervisor (NonCareer) in the Parks Recreation and Waterfront Department! In this role you will have the opportunity to interact with campers and supervise the daily operation of one or more essential functions of a summer camp. Functions may include administration food service and/or recreation. You will be provided with room and board while at camp.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge skills and abilities for this position is:
Completion of high school or the equivalent plus one summer or season of progressively responsible experience in leading organized recreational or educational programs; or municipal recreation family camp programs; or volume food preparation in commercial institutional or related industries; or an administrative retail or cashhandling occupation. Valid food handlers license is required for food service assignments.

Other requirements include:

California Public Resources Code Section 5164 prohibits the hiring of a person for employment at a park or recreational facility in a position having supervisory or disciplinary authority over any minor if the person has been convicted of certain criminal offenses. California Education Code Section 10911.5 requires that all public recreation program employers must fingerprint all persons having direct contact with a minor. The City does not hire persons who have been convicted of felony drug sexual or physical crimes.

EXAM PROCESS

The exam process will include but may not be limited to:

Tests may consist of any combination of written oral or other exercises or assessment procedures that test content and may include but are not necessarily limited to typing math reading writing and analytical skills; problem solving ability; computer and software proficiency or any other jobrelated knowledge skill ability or qualification. The City may without notice change or eliminate any assessment component as needs dictate. Applicants passing all examination phases will have their names placed on an employment eligible list that hiring departments will use to conduct final selection interviews.
