Pipe Fabrication Operations Manager ARB Inc.
Position Overview
The Fabrication Shop Operations Manager oversees the daily operations of the fabrication shop ensuring efficient production quality control and safety compliance. This role requires strong project management skills and a strong understanding of managing project costs.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate all activities in the fabrication shop including scheduling production and workflow optimization.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
Lead mentor and manage a team of fabricators welders and shop staff.
Conduct performance evaluations training and development programs.
Ensure all products meet established quality standards and customer specifications.
Conduct inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
Oversee inventory procurement and maintenance of tools materials and equipment.
Monitor budgets and control costs related to shop operations.
Enforce workplace safety protocols in compliance with OSHA and company standards.
Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure a hazardfree work environment.
Collaborate with engineering design and sales teams to align production schedules with project timelines.
Track progress manage deadlines and address production challenges.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
Stay updated on industry trends technologies and best practices.
Qualifications
Experience in being the primary customer contact who manages change manages the contractual requirements of the project and manages customer required deliverables
Possess a strong understanding of how to price the work (estimate) how to schedule the work how to source and purchase exotic and complex materials determine labor resource needs
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and have an enormous understanding of managing and building high energy piping systems.
Ability to manage shop compliance with Air Quality District and hazardous waste mandates
Bachelors degree in engineering manufacturing or related work experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in fabrication with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Proficiency in reading blueprints CAD drawings and technical schematics
Knowledge of welding cutting machining and metal fabrication processes.
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and inventory management software.
Labor relations managing customer needs and expectations coordinating subcontractors
Strong leadership decisionmaking and problemsolving abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage team dynamics and client interactions.
Ability to prioritize tasks manage time effectively and work under pressure.
Work Environment
Some exposure to noise heat and equipment typical of a manufacturing setting.
