Job Description
As part of its special education programming Extended School Year (ESY) Services are provided to eligible students. Franklin offers a number of ESY programs from preschool through high school. Extended School Year services are provided to students who meet one or more of the criteria for such services as outlined in special education law. Typically eligible students require services because they have demonstrated or are likely to demonstrate substantial regression in his/her learning skills and/or substantial difficulty relearning such skills if an extended year program is not provided. Teachers needed for the following programs:Academic Support Teacher 3 days/week; T W THAcademic Support is a program for students with mildmoderate learning needs.IDEAS Elementary Teacher 4 days/week; M T W THThe IDEAS program is a specialized program for students who require a languagebased multisensory program.REACH Elementary Teacher 4 days/week; M T W THThe REACH program is a therapeutic program for students who require social emotional and behavioral support.GOALS Elementary Teacher 4 days/week; M T W THThe GOALS program is a specialized program for students with various Autism Spectrum Disorders and accompanying needs.Responsibilities:Plan and organize small group instruction in a setting that for students with social/emotional Autism Spectrum and complex learning disabilitiesOrganize structured day of academic social and recreational opportunitiesProvide maintenance instruction in reading writing math social skills and behavioral strategiesAssign assistant(s) to student and program responsibilitiesCoordinate with related service staff (OT PT SLP Psychologist) Communicate with parents Write student progress reports at end of program Qualifications: Special education teaching licensure required; knowledge of and experience with therapeutic and academic strategies and interventions for students behavior management and a variety of specialized instructional techniques in social skills reading written language and math Hours: 3.5 hours/day; students in session 3 hours from 9:00 AM 12:00 PM. Teachers need to be present from 8:45 AM 12:15 PM 30 minutes/day of prep time is built into the daily rateCompensation: $156/dayThe successful applicant must be available for the full duration of the program.
