Job Description
Position Summary:
RLM Underground seeks to hire an outstanding Telecom Lineman. In this role you will support all phases of utility construction for various types of telecom projects. Youll have some general labor duties and also install repair and maintain telecommunications lines cables and equipment:
- New construction including but not limited to Installing lines circuits crossconnects and equipment
- Repair damaged lines cables and equipment such as fiber optic cable after storms or power outages
- Perform routine maintenance on poles conduits and equipment
- Testing cables for performance issues
- Maintain crew safety by providing direction on procedures
- May work in a vehiclemounted bucket connected to a service vehicle working at heights of up to 40 feet or more.
Working Conditions:
This is a fulltime hourly position expected to work at least 40 hours per week. This position operates in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including; extreme cold rain sleet snow humidity high temperatures and high wind. The outside work environment will vary throughout the day including changes in terrain traffic urban settings and/or rural settings. This position may occasionally be exposed to natural gas and to the risk of electrical shock. Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels.
Physical Requirements:
The employee will need to have the ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 12 hours at a time) tolerate work in extreme weather conditions speak and hear worksite safety instructions withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting standing climbing kneeling reaching and feeling crouching and crawling. The employee will need to be able to regularly lift 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Over the years RLM has expanded its operating region opening offices in Central Kentucky and Central Illinois while focusing on smaller Telco providers throughout those regions.
- Must be able to pass a preemployment drug screen and motor vehicle history check
- Must have a valid drivers license
- A decent driving record is required
- Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner
- Basic knowledge of and ability to hand tools and equipment in a safe manner
- Class A Commercial Drivers License is a plus (Higher wage scales apply to CDL holders)
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers employees etc
- Willing and able to work in all weather conditions
