Job Description
The job of Bus Driver Trainee is done for the purpose of learning to transport students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions; ensuring vehicle operation is in safe operating condition; and ensuring safety of students during transport loading and unloading from buses.
- Advises students and other passengers of appropriate behavior
- Assesses incidents complaints accidents and/or potential emergency situations; assists students and other passengers
- Attends meetings trainings etc.
- Cleans assigned vehicles both interior and exterior; drives school bus(es)
- Fuels assigned vehicle e.g. oil water fuel etc.
- Performs pretrip and posttrip inspections e.g. fluid levels tire pressure exterior condition etc.
- Prepares documents and reports e.g. field trip reports incident reports inspections records passenger misconduct mileage logs student counts etc.
- Reports observations and/or incidents e.g. discipline accidents inappropriate social behavior etc.
- Responds to inquires e.g. students parents other school personnel etc.
- Supervises students and other passengers during transit; assists other personnel as may be required.
Qualifications: Experience desired.
Requirements: Alcohol and Drug Test; Preplacement Physical Exam;Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance;Random Drug Testing;Ability to read write and communicate clearly in English.
