Responsibilities
- Conductsdetailed analysis of contract documents (isometric asbuilt and engineering drawings) and specifications for large hardbid / lump sum construction management and small to medium designbuild projects to determine overall project requirements (bonding insurance etc..
- Capturesand understandstrade scopes and communicating gaps / missing information.
- Leadspricing of the general expense and projectspecific general requirements for medium to large projects (lump sum and construction management).
- Assistsin preparing final tender documents to submit to the client to meet contract deadline requirements.
- Performsconceptual quantity takeoffs to support construction management and designbuild pursuits.
- Solicitscompetitive pricing from trade contractors and suppliers for pursuit support.
- Establishesteam assignments and identifying estimating review dates.
- Reviews all work performed by estimators on the pursuit for quality and accountability.
- Usescontract terms to identify risks/opportunities associated with contract/project documents.
- Reviewsall bids performsbid evaluation and selectsthe best trade contractor pricing.
- Leads the development of a conceptual estimate/designbuild bid submission for complex projects and/or with key clients.
- Organizesbid closing and preparing to meet submission deadlines.
- Recognizesrisks related to projectspecific requirements site schedule and market conditions/constraints.
- Supervises directs coaches trains and mentorsdirect and indirect reports.
- Developsand maintainsstrong customerfocused relationships with all stakeholders specifically trade contractors for best price.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
What you will bring to the role:
- Twelve 12 years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating with 12 months of onsite experience preferred.
- Successfully led pursuits valued up to $250 million in delivery model hard bid/lump sum construction management/cost reimbursable/target price and/or design build.
- Experience with a selfperform estimates and productivity understanding.
- Knowledge and understanding of different construction methods planning scheduling sequencing potential problems and timelines and is a district champion in these matters.
- Extensive knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation including quantity takeoff procedures trade contractor procurement pricing and bid closing procedures.
- Uses market conditions and business trends and identifies competitor strengths and weaknesses to influence bidwin strategies.
- Experience estimating multiple scopes and working knowledge of applicable products and systems.
- Able to build a conceptual estimate without drawings/specifications.
- Able to review project cost reports (for historical information regarding various disciplines) to use in strategic bid win strategies.
- Ability to lead successful teams.
