Location:

St. Lucy Day Care & Child Development Center

Work Schedule:

MondayFriday; 7AM12:30PM

Position Summary:

St.Lucy Day Care & Child Development Center Cook is responsible for the daily preparation of breakfast lunch andsnacks for the Centers children. TheCook is also responsible for inventory control menu research food safety andpreparing and maintaining all required documents and reports for the Child andAdult Care Food Program (CACFP).

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesfor the Cook:

SpecificResponsibilities

  1. Prepare breakfast lunch and snack.
  2. Serve breakfast lunch and snack with proper portion controls based on CACFP guidelines.
  3. Wash breakfast and lunch dishes and utensils properly using grease control measures.
  4. Prepare afternoon snack.
  5. Check operation of refrigerators and freezers to insure they are functioning properly. Record freezer and refrigerator temperatures daily.
  6. Set aside a sample plate daily if required.
  7. Take Daily Weekly and Monthly Food Inventory.
  8. Deliver breakfast and snacks to Lil Tykes and Toddlers.

GeneralResponsibilities

  1. Prepare meals.
  2. Make and Store food orders.
  3. Always keep kitchen cafeteria and storage rooms clean.
  4. Clean stove ovens refrigerator and freezer as often as necessary
  5. Maintain neat and clean physical appearance kitchen cafeteria and storage rooms.
  6. Follow meal schedule as closely as possible.
  7. Report illness and/or absenteeism as early as possible
  8. Attend inservice meetings and obtain at lease three hours of documented training in health and food safety each year.
  9. Take food inventory each Friday and turn in for processing.
  10. Other duties as assigned by Director.

Other or Shared Responsibilities:

  1. Work with the staff members in a cooperative manner
  2. Attend staff meetings when necessary.
  3. Assist Teachers with the introduction of foods.
Qualifications to Perform the Job Successfully:

OtherSkills Required: Ability to followmenus and understand portion control and nutritional guidelines required byCACFP. Reading and organizational skills necessary for inventory control menuresearch and following recipes is a requirement. Ability to pass a criminalrecord check and safe environment training required.

Certificates Licenses Registrations: Pass Criminal Background Check required by LouisianaDepartment of Education for Child Care Facilities.

PhysicalDemands/Working Conditions: The work requires routine walkingstanding bending and carrying items weighing less than fifty pounds. Movingitems over fifty pounds utilizes a team lift.

OtherRequirements: St. LucyDay Care and Child Development Center is a program of Catholic Charities of theDiocese of HoumaThibodaux. St. Lucy student and staff information isconfidential. Staff must always maintain strict confidentiality.
