Leader in Training (LIT) Summer Program
Role Overview
The Leader in Training position is a handson learning opportunity for individuals looking to develop leadership skills while supporting the Pegasus Summer Program. LITs assist Group Leaders Instructors and Program Coordinators in delivering engaging ageappropriate activities while fostering a positive and inclusive program environment.
This role is designed to provide mentorship skillbuilding and realworld experience for those interested in working with children and youth in an educational or recreational setting.
General Responsibilities
Program Support & Leadership Development
- Provide support for program activities ensuring students are engaged and following program guidelines.
- Assist in ageappropriate activity delivery as directed by the Program Coordinator Instructors or Group Leader.
- Act as a peer leader helping with activity planning and under supervision.
- Develop leadership skills through handson experience mentorship and collaboration with senior staff.
- Focus on learning program procedures and assisting in activities under close supervision.
- Build and maintain meaningful relationships with students fostering a positive and supportive environment.
Student Engagement
- Help ensure all students are engaged and supported in programming contributing to inclusive practices.
- Assist students during transitions between activities helping with group management.
- Provide additional oneonone or smallgroup support to students who need it.
Professional Development & Collaboration
- Participate in staff meetings professional development sessions and training throughout the summer.
- Work closely with the Program Coordinator and Instructors to support program success.
- Take initiative in problemsolving and teamwork while receiving guidance from senior staff.
- Support program setup cleanup and materials organization.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform additional duties as reasonably assigned by the Program Coordinator or Director.
Qualifications
- High School student or recent graduate (ages 16.
- Interest in education child development or recreational leadership.
- Strong communication teamwork and adaptability skills.
- Enthusiasm for working with children and creating a fun inclusive environment.
- Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
Compensation
- $19.52 $20.05 per hour based on experience.
Additional Requirements
- Must have U.S. citizenship residency or a valid work visa.
- Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (C.O.R.I. Sexual Offender Record Check (S.O.R.I. and fingerprinting (if applicable).
