Position Overview: As a Mental Health Worker Intern you will manage a caseload of persons with a diagnosis of Mental Illness and/or Brain Injuries. You will assist those individuals at their homes or locations within the community with RTI provided goalbased and personcentered individualized home support services adult rehabilitative mental health services or community residential services. Role Responsibilities: As an Intern you will be working with participants in the following areas: - Communication Skills
- Community Living and Mobility
- Interpersonal Skills
- Crisis Intervention
- Skill Development Symptom Management etc.
- Personal Finances
- Promoting goalorientated personcentered services that enhance each persons progression to their desired goals.
Required Qualification and Experience: - Must be enrolled in an MSW BSW or Counseling program
- Have a passion for psychology and improving the lives of the individuals we serve.
- Have prior consent/approval from RTI and your university to engage in internship practice with RTI.
- Be able to pass a Department of Human Services background check.
- Work in a personcentered approach.
- Organize and work independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A valid drivers license and have a satisfactory driving record.
- Access to a working vehicle and auto insurance for yourself and the vehicle.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs. or more.
Preferred Qualification and Experience: - A year of working with persons diagnosed with severe & persistent mental illness (SPMI) Developmental Disabilities Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) Trauma Histories and Chemical Dependency (CD) Histories. Experience working within a psychologybased profession.
