Minimum Qualifications
Education: Equivalent to graduation from a fouryear college or university in a related field including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques interviewing and conflict resolution where such are jobrelated. Experience: Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience. One year in the program area to which assigned may be preferred but is not required. A masters degree in Counseling Clinical Psychology Social Work or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling.
Preferred Qualifications
Oneyear working with K12 students. A bachelors and a masters degree from an accredited college or university in Reading Education Special Education or related field plus three 3 years of successful classroom experience with a focus on reading diagnosis and assessment of reading and literacy difficulties; OR threeyears of progressively responsible work in a reading center clinic or program. Bilingualpreferably in Spanish. Previous experience in a reading program. Ability to interpret and evaluate descriptions and explanations of language literacy and reading challenges brought forward by individuals parents guardians or agencies. Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail. Ability to organize assess capabilities and present instructional materials to students of various educational levels. Understanding of the linguistic sociological cultural cognitive and psychological basis of the reading process; and experience teaching reading writing spelling and syntax. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding students and families enrolled with the Center for Reading Diagnosis and Instruction; and to work cooperatively with other staff/team members accept supervision and help to promote a positive atmosphere in the classroom and in the Center. Working knowledge of evidencebased programs; e.g. Read Naturally Rewards Reading Mastery Superkids Phonics for Reading Language! AIMSweb and be wellversed in diagnostic techniques related to those programs. Working knowledge of current teaching techniques preferably in the areas of reading language proficiency/comprehension and word recognition. Technical fluency with Microsoft Office Suite OraclePeopleSoft/ CMS baseline system; G Suite (Gmail Docs Drive and Calendar); intranet drives; and internet browsers.
