POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D. or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O..
Accreditation: Doctor of Medicine Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges: Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. For foreign medical graduates facility officials must verify with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) that the applicant has met the requirements for certification and must obtain a copy of the ECFMG certificate.
Internship/Residency: Successful completion of residency program through one of the following:
oThe Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education
oThe Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association.
Board Certification: Board Certified in Anesthesiology
Continuing Medical Education (CME): Provide copy of current CME
Cardiac Certifications: Must have the following handson certification through the American Heart Association
oCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS)
oCurrent Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Licensures:
oPossess a current and unrestricted license to practice as a Physician in any one of the 50 states the District of Columbia Puerto Rico Guam or the U.S. Virgin Island.
oPossess a current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
oRegistration certificate National Provider Identifier (NPI).
U.S. Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen.
English Language Requirement:Shall be able to read write speak and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.
Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract.
Training: Electronic Health Record educational trainings completed annually
Liability Insurance: The Federal Tort Claims Act does not cover Contractor or Contractors physician(s). When a Contractor or Contractors physician(s) has been identified as a provider in a tort claim the Contractor shall be responsible for notifying their legal counsel and/or insurance carrier.
DUTIES:
Administers anesthesiology services to surgical and clinic patients.
Provide clinical care of patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory electrophysiology gastrointestinal and radiological suites.
HOURS:
VA Business Hours: 8:00 am4:30 pm MondayFriday
OR Schedule: 7:00 am 3:30 pm Monday Friday
Oncall: 3:30 p.m. 7:00 a.m. Monday to Friday 24 hours Saturday Sunday and Federal Holidays
Oncall 4 days per month
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
Must be comfortable in a fastpaced dynamic environment.Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects.Flexible and able to work with various personalities.Teamwork skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fastpaced demanding environment.
