Do you have a passion for history and engaging with the public The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Museum Educator to join the team at Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum a premier living history site in Lancaster County Pennsylvania.
This position offers a unique opportunity to educate visitors of all ages about the Commonwealths rich agricultural heritage traditional crafts Pennsylvania German culture and rural life from the 18th and 19th centuries. As the Museum Educator 2 you will play a vital role in developing implementing and promoting dynamic educational programs that bring history to life. Whether leading interactive tours coordinating handson workshops or assisting with school field trips and special events you will be an essential part of the museums mission to educate and inspire.

Each year thousands of visitors from across the country and around the world visit Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum to experience Pennsylvanias rural and agricultural history through immersive handson learning. As the Museum Educator 2 you will be an integral part of the museums educational and interpretive team responsible for developing and delivering engaging programming that highlights the everyday lives trades and agricultural practices of 18th and 19thcentury Pennsylvanians.
You will play a lead role in planning and implementing school programs guided tours handson workshops public programs and community outreach initiatives ensuring they provide authentic educational and engaging experiences based in the current standards for museum education. This work includes overseeing the Farm and Garden Program and the Heirloom Seed Project as well as conducting inperson and virtual lectures special programs and offsite outreach efforts to expand the museums audience. You will work closely with the Site Administrator the Landis Valley Associates and other educational advisors to develop the museums annual calendar of programs and events craft interpretive materials and lesson plans and ensure historical accuracy and visitor engagement in all educational offerings.
As the Museum Educator 2 you will also work with site staff to recruit train schedule and evaluate volunteers and student interns ensuring that interpretive staff effectively communicate Landis Valleys historical themes. Moreover you will contribute to marketing and outreach efforts including developing promotional materials such as brochures posters signs media releases and social media content.
The Museum Educator 2 is often the primary PHMC representative onsite responsible for ensuring daily museum operations run smoothly and in alignment with established guidelines. Landis Valley operates with a small dedicated team and you will be expected to collaborate closely with all departments actively participate in event planning and and contribute to overall site operations. Additionally as the Museum Educator 2 you will be expected to uphold industry best practices and adhere to PHMC Core Values ensuring that Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum remains a dynamic engaging and welcoming institution for all visitors.
