Our client a highly respected Engineering Consulting Firm is currently seeking a talented and experienced Mechanical Project Manager (P.Eng Preferred) to join their team.The candidate will have a recognized mechanical engineering degree and license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) as a P. Eng.
Requirements
- Coordinates and manages mechanical design projects with external consultants Architects property managers contractors and internal team members.
- Working experience in the building construction industry related to HVAC plumbing drainage and fire protection.
- Participates in project teams and manages assignments within the overall project framework.
- Prepare and review engineering calculations including building heat gain/loss calculations system friction losses energy analysis equipment and material sizing and project cost estimates.
- Responsible for the selection of equipment and systems.
- Prepares technical specifications for permit tender and construction.
- Create Energy Models from building specifications.
- Provides construction administration services during construction.
- Performs detailed site surveys.
- Manage projects from initial engineering design through to construction completion.
- Work towards successful project coordination with internal staff and external project team members.
- Design detailed mechanical drawings prepare specifications and review estimate costs.
- Investigate survey and audit sites.
- Prepare Tender documents
- Responsible for managing projects during construction administration.
- 5 years full time Canadian design experience in commercial HVAC plumbing and building services.
- In depth knowledge of Design Standards and Codes such as OBC ASHRAE 90.1 62.1 CSA B149.1 B44 B52 NFPA.
- Knowledge of commercial building automation systems and DDC controls systems.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Revit and commercial HVAC load calculation software.
- Access to transportation for site reviews and inspections.
- Any other reasonable duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Applied Science (Mechanical Engineering).
- Strong understanding of engineering theory including Heat Transfer Thermodynamics and Fluid Dynamics.
- Superior time management skills. Candidate will work on multiple projects for multiple supervisors with specific time allotments for each.
- Excellent communications skills. Candidate must communicate professionally and effectively with clients contractors peer consultants and fellow employees through various formal documents email on the phone and in person.
- Strong team player and interpersonal skills. Candidate will be involved in teams of various sizes and work with people from various professions and backgrounds including but not limited to: architects engineers project managers CAD staff contractors and inspectors.
- Candidate must be able to organize and coordinate work between team members and keep the project moving forward.
- Be able to work efficiently under varying amounts of supervision.
- Candidate will be responsible for accuracy and quality of assigned work and its timely delivery.
