Harris County Resources for Children and Adults was founded in 1966 as Harris County Child Welfare to provide support services for the children taken under the wing of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Fifty years later Harris County Resources for Children and Adults still provides this support. But the nowcounty department has expanded services for early prevention intervention and adult services.

Group Facilitator Overview:
Under the supervision of the ParentTeen Coordinator this position provides communitybased group program for parents and youth to learn conflict resolution and mediation skills.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Conducts group meetings with parents and youth when scheduled.
Reviews curriculum and prepares presentations.
Assembles needed materials and equipment.
Keeps notes of participants files and attendance records.
Provides feedback to referral source on attendance and level of participation.
Provides individual counseling to participants as needed.
Tracks effectiveness of the program.
Surveys parents and youth after completion of group series.

Education:
Bachelors degree majoring in a Behavioral Science Social Work or other Social Science or closely related field.
Experience:
One 1 year of continuous fulltime paid work experience with youth and their families in a youth service agency institutional counseling or social service setting.
Training and experience using a personal computer with a variety of software such as Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
Licensure:
Reliable transportation with a valid drivers license and auto liability insurance.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of adolescent problems and stages of development.
Knowledge of the Texas Family Code and related laws governing children and the ability to interpret this to youths parents and other systems.
Knowledge of community resources.
Demonstrated casework and documentation skills
Excellent management skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate tactfully and respectfully are essential.
Must be responsible and selfdisciplined enough to work independently.
Must be a selfmotivator.
Demonstrated ability to work with adolescents
Ability to handle the stress of emergency situations.
Ability to work away from the home agency.
Must have excellent organizational skills
Possess good analytical skills.
Excellent problemsolving skills.
Speaks and interacts with persons of various social cultural economic and educational backgrounds.
Ability to prioritize.
Maintains confidentiality.

Salary:
$20.83 $23.97(Hourly)
Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
