ABOUT THE POSITION







Riverside County is seeking a highly experienced Media/Communications Coordinator CN to join the Media Relations Team.

Your copywriting shooting graphics and editing skill sets will be put to the test as you continually seek to inform nearly 2.4 million residents a population that makes Riverside County the tenth largest county in the nation.


Experience in corporate communications and project management in a large enterprise environment are required to facilitate the development of various communication campaigns utilizing traditional and emerging media.

Strong customer service skills are also required to establish a strong working relationship with both internal and external clients as the Media/Communications Coordinator CN will be the central pointofcontract for High Priority audio visual productionrequests. Approved requests will be budgeted and assigned a project timeline.

The Media/Communications Coordinator CN will often act as a project lead providing task supervision for other staff and are further responsible for the overall administration supervision and coordination of media productions.

Competitive candidates will have professional experience in shooting from a 4K handheld smart device to professional camera gear videoediting from an edit bay to a laptop on location and graphics software packages; project management principles and MS Office. Still photography experience is highly desired.

Experience with AI: Artificial Intelligence is preferred but not required.
The Media/Communications Coordinator CN (Confidential NonExempt) is an advanced journey level classification and reports to upper level management in the department in which it is assigned.
Employees in a Confidential designated class are defined by Section 3.b. of the Employee Relations Resolution as any employee who may be privy to the decisionmaking process of County management affecting employee relations and are only authorized for use within the departments of Executive Office Clerk of the Board County Counsel and Human Resources.

The Riverside County Information Technology(RCIT)department provides information technology services to County departments and agencies and is entrusted with managing and safeguarding the Countys enterprise and missioncritical solutions and infrastructure. EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Plan assign and supervise the work of subordinate staff; coordinate public outreach activities; produce newsletters and other communications.

Originate and research highly technical and complex media program topics; plan media program content.

Prepare and negotiate contracts and memoranda of understanding with other County departments/ agencies other public agencies and outside organizations to produce media programs media productions and related educational and training materials.

Develop budgets and cost estimates for clients; negotiate contracts and memoranda of understanding with other jurisdictions for media productions; develop and control departmental operating budgets.

Design and coordinate all aspects of media productions; direct the technical and artistic development of television and multimedia presentations including artwork narration dialog sound effects and music.

Plan production schedules; select and direct the cast narrators and other personnel involved in media productions; edit or supervise the editing of media and communications materials.

Recommend the purchase of departmental equipment.

Act as a consultant to management regarding public relations and marketing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors degree preferably with a major in communications telecommunications broadcasting media arts technology instructional media technology or a closely related field to the assignment. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the education on the basis of 30 semester or 45 quarter units equaling one year of fulltime experience.

Experience:
Three years producing documentary and/or education media programs which included scriptwriting production planning directing and editing. (Six months of experience in the marketing and distribution of media programs is preferred.

Knowledge of:Principles of supervision and training; media design techniques; production principles and techniques including sound recording television still and motion photography scriptwriting staging lighting and editing; developing and marketing of media programs and communications; basic electronic theory.

Ability to:Assume leadership and provide creativity in the planning writing and directing of media productions and communications; act independently in converting ideas and concepts into an effective combination of audio and visual impression; develop innovative solutions to complex communications problems; effectively communicate verbally and in writing; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with management staff other County departments/agencies outside organizations and the public; evaluate the effectiveness of media and communication productions.

Other Requirements

License: Possession of a valid California Drivers License may be required to travel throughout to County for media purposes.

Physical: Ability to carry and use media equipment that weighs up to pounds.
