Job Description

  • Shall ensure that all maintenance activities carried out in their shop are accomplished in strict conformity with the Canadian Aviation Regulations and Standards and Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Shall ensure that all personnel performing maintenance in their shop are doing so in accordance with the duties and responsibilities outlined in the applicable sections of the MCM and DPM.
  • Shall ensure that all maintenance activities including but not limited to parts changes special processes special and scheduled inspections accomplishment of Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins material sping etc. are accurately documented using the Company Component Work Report System in order to provide traceability to the work accomplished and standards applied.
  • Shall maintain uptodate component build sheets/ component work reports where applicable and shall review all incoming Company and OEM Manuals/Technical Documentation to ensure that applicable Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins are incorporated as required.
  • Shall maintain a shelflife control log or other acceptable database and shall ensure that all parts and products held in his shop and subject to shelflife limitations are removed from serviceable stock on or before they become due.
  • Shall maintain a shop tool control log or other acceptable database and shall ensure that all shop tools all shoppersonnel owned tools and equipment such as but not limited to overhead hoists eyewash stations building fire extinguishers etc. which are subject to calibration and/or recertification are removed from service as required on or before the due date.
  • Shall ensure that all serviceable parts and consumables held in serviceable shop stock are properly certified inhibited from corrosion and segregated from unserviceable stock and from nonaircraft parts and any time parts are removed for use that the main base material department is advised as required.
  • Shall ensure that all serviceable class 4 hardware held in shop floor bins are properly certified in individual batches and segregated from unserviceable stock and from nonaircraft parts and equipment.
  • Shall ensure that all unserviceable parts held in shop quarantine are adequately inhibited from corrosion and are accompanied by completed unserviceable tags and are segregated from serviceable stock and nonaircraft parts and equipment.
  • Shall ensure that all nonrequired parts and all unserviceable parts are drained of internal fluids and are returned to the main base material department as soon as possible and that all parts are packaged in such a manner to prevent any damage during transit. If parts are to be sped locally that authorization is obtained as per the procedures described in the DPM.
  • In conjunction with the Material Department Manager shall ensure that shop inventories are maintained at optimum levels.
  • Shall coordinate production planning with the Planning and Reliability Manager Material Department Manager and respective Maintenance/Production Managers to ensure effective utilization of shop staff and competitive turntimes of aeronautical products.
  • Shall provide technical support and mentoring to shop personnel including but not limited to troubleshooting interpretation of manufacturers technical publications the use of special tooling parts requirements application of Company policies and procedures etc.
  • Shall ensure that shop personnel are properly trained and instructed in their duties. They will recommend applicable upgrading courses to the Person Responsible for Manufacturing as required.
  • Shall ensure that all shop areas are kept clean orderly and organized.
  • Shall ensure that the shop technical library is kept up to date at all times.
  • Shall act as the prime liaison between KBA and the aircraft/engine/equipment manufacturer with regards to technical issues engineering requests and other applicable correspondence applicable to their shop. When deemed necessary the Upholstery Shop Supervisor may authorize one or more of their staff to liaise with the manufacturer directly.
  • Shall advise the Quality Manager of any discrepancies or proposed changes relating to aeronautical products inspection procedures and documents within their department.
  • Shall review the suitability of the organizations test equipment and tooling and confirm that it meets the Companys requirements. He will advise the Person Responsible for Manufacturing on the feasibility and need for new equipment as necessary.
  • Shall ensure that both internal and external audit findings and recommendations are acted upon within the prescribed period of time and that both short and longterm corrective actions are provided and implemented where applicable.
  • Shall review incoming resumes for suitability for employment in his/her shop and where applicable shall extend written offers of employment following consultation with the Person Responsible for Manufacturing.
  • Shall carry out periodic performance reviews of shop personnel who fall under his charge. Where necessary shall apply disciplinary measures in accordance with the applicable policies in KBAs  Employee Manual including documenting actions taken.
  • Shall certify aeronautical products on behalf of the organization in accordance with his Company Certification Authorization.
  • With the exception of shops dependent or mandated to bring in third party business shall not undertake third party maintenance activities unless authorized to do so by the Person Responsible for Manufacturing/Maintenance Manager.
  • Shall submit annual expense capital and expansion budgets to the Person Responsible for Manufacturing as required.
  • Shall carry out other duties as assigned by the Person Responsible for Manufacturing.
  • Shall in a courteous and professional manner work with clients vendors and coworkers to ensure a safe and efficient operation.

Qualifications :

        Minimum three 3 years in aircraft or autobody interior experience in a supervisory role
        Ability to read and interpret design templates
        Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills
        Possess the ability to plan schedule and integrate complex events


Additional Information :

Preemployment Drug and Alcohol screening resulting in a negative test result is a condition of employment. Screening is provided at KBA expense and will be conducted where possible on the first day of employment.

Full immunization against COVID19 is preferred.
