SUMMARY:
The pharmacy technician assists the pharmacists in performing routine duties in the pharmacy; patient and department order processing inventory control drug purchasing and sterile/nonsterile compounding compliance with clinic policies procedures and USP guidelines. This includes following up on drug shortages backorders recalls; and other bookkeeping and/or clerical duties.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a certified pharmacy technician (CPhT). Hospital sterile and nonsterile compounding or other institutional experience preferred but will consider a certified pharmacy technician with experience in a community pharmacy setting or experience in other medical environment. The Clinic will provide support for the cost of the recertification and maintaining the annual continuing education requirements.
Must be able to multitask and remain organized. Must have knowledge of medical terminology; computer experience using email Excel and Word. Must have good written and verbal communication skills; courteous; friendly; diplomatic and tactful; ability to maintain information in a confidential manner; ability to use basic office equipment. Must be able to communicate clearly in person as well as over the phone.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability move traverse position self remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; lift/carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds; manual dexterity; mobility and adequate visual acuity to read small numbers and letters.
