Currently we have an immediate opening for a Maintenance Technician position at its Decatur Alabama Facility.

On our team you will work as part of the overall plant team to ensure safe efficient and reliable of plant machinery operation and maintenance. Our technicians are primarily responsible for the planning and of routine mechanical maintenance as designated by the SAP maintenance program and nonroutine maintenance as and when required. You will provide the handson mechanical services performing a variety of mechanical related activities on continuous production machinery such as compressors turbines heat exchangers pumps pressure relief valves and pressure systems.
Key responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Ensure that all plant mechanical facilities are maintained to a safe and serviceable condition so that they can consistently attain their performance targets
- Responsible to perform routine preventative and corrective maintenance on an assortment of pumps compressors and turbines.
- Accountable to perform assigned Critical activities as per Process Safety requirements
- Update maintenance records investigation findings & prepare relevant reports
- Work with technical staff and plant management to solve plant and equipment problems as they arise in the safest & most effective way
- Oversee contractors completing field work to ensure work is completed to company standards.
- Initiate purchasing procedures when necessary to ensure sufficient quantities of replacement parts and supplies are on hand at all times.
- Perform nonroutine maintenance duties as necessary or as directed by Supervisor to ensure minimum production downtime and maximum operator safety.
- Assist in the proper storage and disposal of both hazardous and nonhazardous waste according to Company policy and applicable regulatory agency guidelines
- Provide support for Turnaround in related Process Units.
- Serve as primary point of contact with various outside suppliers who provide support services.
- Become qualified as a Crane Lift Supervisor
- Maintain a clean organized and safe environment.
- Finish training activities successfully and on time.
- This is a safety sensitive position.
Minimum Hiring Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 4 years of experience in a plant environment with mechanical troubleshooting including piping pneumatic and electrical systems
- Familiar with compressors turbines pumps (multistage) valves and fans (fin fans)
- Completion of recognized mechanical apprenticeship or other Trade/Technical degree in a related field is highly desirable
- Knowledge of industry safety regulations and operating practices
- Good interpersonal and good verbal and written communications skills
- Must be able to work as an individual contributor or as part of a team as the work dictates.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety.
- Ability to use MS Office programs and knowledge of SAP or other computerbased Maintenance Programs
- Ability to provide out of hours assistance for plant emergencies and operational/maintenance issues on a callout basis.
Work Hours
- 5/8 schedule
- Primary work location will be within Decatur and Nucor ASUs. May support GenGas sites and other facilities in the area as needed.
