Substation Civil Structural Engineer

Leidos is in search of a Substation Civil/Structural Engineer to join our diverse and fastpaced EPC Solutions organization. As a core team member you will be interacting with other electric utility disciplines playing a valuable part in leading and designing high voltage utility Civil Substation and Transmission projects. This position will be part of an established Project Management Office that provides consulting services to both publicowned and investorowned electric utilities. These consulting services provide clients with overall project management tasks in the areas of comprehensive engineering design of electrical transmission and distribution substation and transmission line projects nationwide. The Substation Civil/Structural Engineer will be a part of a design team comprised of engineers designers and drafting technicians.

This role has remote capabilities for wellqualified candidates but Candidates located in or near the following areas will be preferred as this helps Leidos best serve the needs of our utility clients:

Responsibilities:

• The candidate must have a strong educational background in design of steel structures concrete structures geotechnical engineering and foundations.
• Experience reviewing substation structure design rigid bus design foundation design oil spill containment design retaining walls masonry control shelters and firewalls is required.
• This position will consist of performing design reviews of the aforementioned civil/structural design components in support of the development of bid/construction packages for substation and transmission projects.
• Candidate will primarily function as a senior engineer performing design reviews on a regular basis as well as developing junior staff members and contributing to bids and proposal development.
• This role will also consist of taking a responsible engineer role on main client projects overseeing the work and ensuring quality control on design packages.
• Sitevisits to client substation facilities are expected to be part of the work along with occasional travel for client meetings and industry related events.
• Experience in frontfacing client operations such as lunch and learns and kickoff meetings if preferred.
• Candidate must comply with quality control and safe work practices and maintain compliance with project scope schedule and budget expectations.

Qualifications/Background Requirements:

• Bachelors of Science (BS) in Civil or Structural Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience or or Masters (MS) degree in engineering with 3 years of relevant experience
• Demonstrated experience working with infrastructure projects for electric utilities
• Previous experience working with substation and transmission projects is strongly preferred
• Experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint & MATHCAD software
• Experience with STAAD.Pro RISA3D FAD Tools SAFE SAG10 and LPILE software
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation
• Strong analytical and technical writing skills required
• Willingness to travel up to 10
• PE Licensure preferred for candidates with more than 5 years of experience
