    Job Summary
    The Anchorage School District Academies of Anchorage is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Family Ambassador to facilitate timely and accessible communication and help engage families in their childs educational journey through the Academies of Anchorage program model. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic communicator and passionate about education and community involvement. The Family Ambassador role is crucial in building a solid partnership between the school and families contributing to the overall success and wellbeing of the school districts students.

    Job Requirements
    The following are required:
    1. A high school diploma or equivalent.
    2. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends to accommodate family schedules.

    The following are preferred:
    1. Additional education or certification in community outreach or education.
    2. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    3. Knowledge of the school community and a commitment to promoting a positive educational environment.

    Essential Job Functions
    1. Community Engagement: Acts as a partner with families the school and the Academies of Anchorage fostering a sense of community and involvement.
    2. Communication: Facilitates clear and consistent communication between families and school staff ensuring that important information is shared effectively.
    3. Orientation and Workshops: Organizes and conducts orientation sessions and workshops for families to familiarize them with the curriculum school policies and extracurricular activities.
    4. Family Support: Helps families navigate the educational system address concerns and connect them with appropriate resources within the school district.
    5. Event Coordination: Collaborates with school staff to organize and execute familyoriented events promoting a sense of belonging and school pride.
    6. Feedback Collection: Gathers feedback from families regarding their experiences concerns and suggestions and communicates this information to school administrators for continuous improvement.
    7. Volunteer Coordination: Encourages and supports family volunteers for school activities and events.


    Physical /Mental Demands
    The physical demands of this job require frequent standing walking sitting speaking and hearing. Specific visual abilities are also required. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing less than 40 lbs. Additionally the employee must be able to understand vague and implicit instructions be able to readily recall facts and details handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. The employee must have the ability to effectively manage the stress of working with students parents and other employees representing diverse cultures personalities and work styles in a dynamic work environment.

    Work Environment
    Work is performed in a professional environment with a wide variety of individuals having differing functions personalities and abilities including working with diverse groups of people in a variety of different settings.

    While performing the duties of this job the employee may be regularly exposed to a video display. The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

    Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a satisfactory criminal background check. For certificated positions this is in addition to the background check conducted through the certification process with the Alaska State Department of Education and Early Development (DEED).
