REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The following qualification(s) MUST be met and clearly stated on the City of Saratoga Springs employment application form: either
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelors degree in civil engineering engineering technology or a closely related field; OR
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college with an Associates degree in construction technology mechanical technology or closely related field and two years ; 24 months) of full time paid experience surveying drafting or related technical work; OR
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four years 48 months) of full time paid experience surveying drafting or related technical work.
SPECIAL NOTES:
Must possess a valid NYS Drivers License and must maintain said license for the duration of employment.

DUTIES: ; ;
The work involves responsibility for performing a wide range of technical work including the application of standard engineering principles and practices to a variety of engineering utilities and Public Works projects and assignments. ; The work is performed under the general supervision of the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Public Works and the City Engineer with leeway allowed for the use of independent judgment according to established procedures and policies. ; Supervision is not generally a function of this position. ; Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITES: Illustrative only
- Assists the Commissioner of Public Works in planning new construction projects and other major department activities;
- Oversees the construction maintenance and repair of streets curbs and sidewalks;
- Oversees the construction maintenance and repair of the water distribution and the storm and sanitary sewage collection system;
- Acts as liaison between the City and contractors to insure that contract obligations are met;
- Prepares estimates specifications and plans for repairs and alterations to buildings and equipment;
- Coordinates with the City Engineer and the Assistant City Engineer regarding design and construction of building facilities;
- Coordinates with the Utilities Department with the inspection and installation of new and existing water lines;
- Performs construction inspections for sanitary sewer storm sewer water roads and associated utilities for subdivisions site plan PUCs and other similar projects including contract administration during the construction phase of the project
- Measures and maps for recording and mapping purposes existing and newly constructed utilities to be maintained by the City;
