This role is essential for evolving and scaling our UX tools processes and methodologies ensuring that we not only meet current product needs but also anticipate future demands in a rapidly evolving design and technology landscape.

By integrating a usercentered and technologyinformed approach the Principal Design Technologist will play a crucial role in creating intuitive efficient and engaging UX tools and best practices that empower our product design teams across Qualtrics. This includes leveraging and improving the design system as a key component of our tooling strategy.

This position fosters a collaborative environment where design technologists work closely with designers engineers product managers and other stakeholders facilitating innovative solutions that reflect our commitment to teamwork and shared goals.

This role will directly influence the efficiency and scalability of our product development by enhancing and expanding our UX tooling thereby improving our competitive edge in the Experience Management category. As part of a nimble highfunctioning team the Principal Design Technologist will have the opportunity to take strategic risks learn from challenges and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth within Qualtrics.

How Youll Find Success

• Develop a longterm UXtooling strategy that anticipates user needs design trends and technological advancements over the next 12 years fostering innovative and sustainable solutions.
• Actively engage with designers engineers and product teams to gather insights and feedback using this information to identify UX team process and tooling gaps opportunities for improvement and areas for expansion that enhance overall product quality and developer experience.
• Bridge the gap between design and engineering by collaborating closely with frontend engineers to explore new interaction paradigms and fluid design possibilities. Identify areas where current technologies may be limiting our design vision and work together to find innovative solutions accelerating the adoption of new technologies and patterns.
• Leverage new insights and AI to drive maximum UX tool usage and efficiency across all platforms ensuring consistency accessibility and performance. This includes optimizing the design system to be a core component of this efficiency.

How Youll Grow

• Stay updated with the latest UX trends tools and technologies including exploring the potential of AI in design and development through workshops online courses and industry conferences allowing for the integration of novel approaches into your work. This might involve experimenting with AIpowered tools for component generation accessibility testing or even user flow prediction always keeping a critical eye on the practical applications and avoiding hypedriven solutions.
• Mentor and guide other designers and engineers. Seek feedback from product unit leaders to ensure alignment with product needs and strategic goals.
• Actively participate in projects across different product teams to gain a deeper understanding of the entire product development lifecycle and broaden your skillset.
• Embrace opportunities to rapidly embed in strategic projects accelerating UX work by applying and extending our UX tooling. This involves contributing to highpriority initiatives while simultaneously identifying opportunities to build for scale and reusability ensuring that tool enhancements benefit not only the immediate project but also future endeavors.

Things Youll Do

• Elevate UX tooling by incorporating cuttingedge interaction design practices contemporary technology trends robust frontend development techniques and exploring the use of AI within UX.
• Collaborate with engineers to establish and refine UX Engineering best practices ensuring efficient and effective implementation of designs with a focus on performance accessibility and maintainability.
• Develop and implement methods for indepth UX component measurement providing datadriven insights to optimize design system usage and overall UX performance.
• Champion the advancement of UX as a function within the company fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

What Were Looking For On Your Resume

• 6 years as a user experience or interaction designer with a focus on UX tools and efficiency.
• Bachelors degree in design humancomputer interaction (HCI) or related field such as Graphic Design Industrial Design Visual Arts or Computer Science.
• Have shipped and maintained multiple products and features including significant contributions to UX tool development with an online portfolio that showcases this work and your process.
• Ability to work crossfunctionally and influence stakeholders with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Expertise in Figma Figma administration and other UX tools.
• Strong proficiency in modern frontend web development (HTML5 CSS3 React Tailwind).
• Experience with componentbased design and development recognizing the critical role of design tokens in establishing a unified and maintainable design language across all products.
• Experience with common software development tools and practices relevant to frontend development.
• Awareness of the UI/UX challenges in AI/ML applications with a focus on how UX tools can support designers working in this area by providing appropriate components patterns and guidance.
• Strong interest and proficiency in visual and motion design.
