POSITION: Intervention Specialist

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification: Valid Ohio Intervention Specialist License (Preschool Endorsement)
- Skills: Strong organizational communication and collaboration skills
- Mission Alignment: Committed to the districts vision of preparing inspiring and empowering all students
- Experience:
- Ohios Extended Learning Standards (OLSE) inclusion and coteaching
- Preschool Licensing Rules Early Learning and Development Standards and Step Up to Quality (SUTQ)
- Adapting curriculum in collaboration with general education teachers
- Writing implementing and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Conducting functional behavioral assessments (FBAs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs)
- Compliance:
- Knowledge of federal state and local special education regulations
- Completion of mandatory professional development (Orientation First Aid/CPR child abuse training)
- Compliance with Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services (ODJFS) requirements
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans to address students academic social emotional and developmental needs
- Provide direct instruction in inclusive and pullout settings per students IEPs
- Monitor student progress on IEP goals and collaborate with families during IEP reviews
Collaboration and Support:
- Work with the Preschool Director Director of Student Services and staff to ensure compliance with licensing and Step Up to Quality standards
- Consult with general education teachers to adapt and differentiate curriculum for students with special needs
- Assist in implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) schoolwide initiatives
- Collaborate with educational teams to support inclusive classroom practices and integrate students with disabilities into general education settings
Behavior and Assessment:
- Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and develop behavior intervention plans (BIPs)
- Collect and analyze data on student performance to inform instructional practices
- Provide feedback and guidance to paraprofessionals and staff on student needs and behavior strategies
Professional and Legal Compliance:
- Maintain accurate student records ensuring compliance with legal and ethical documentation standards
- Participate in professional development to remain current on best practices in special education and early childhood education
- Fulfill all documentation requirements within designated timelines (e.g. progress reports assessments incident reports)
Additional Responsibilities:
- Serve as a role model in fostering responsible citizenship and appropriate social behaviors among students
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal Director of Student Services or Superintendent
