Aboutthe roleand team

We have anopportunity for a Legal Assistant to join our growing GeneralInsurance section based in our Perth office on a 12month fulltime fixed term contract.

The roleprovides administrative support to a team of Lawyers in the GeneralInsurance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to hit theground running and be part of a friendly fast paced team. The rolewill also have the opportunity to take on some paralegaltasks.

Our PerthGeneral Insurance team sits within our national General Insurancesection with around 180 team members nationally. We providegeneral insurance advice to insurers reinsurers and corporatesand we sit on the legal panels of three of Australias topfour general insurers. We also assist the Firms DisputesResolution team.

You will beresponsible for:

  • telephone handling for the team;
  • preparation of monthly billing;
  • managing client file maintenance for the team;
  • coordinating all outgoing mail to be signed compiled and delivered to the mailroom;
  • basic research for the team;
  • maintaining Partners/lawyers contacts in our firm CRM InterAction including assisting with list management on their behalf for events and communications;
  • liaising with internal and external stakeholders; courts clients and other parties;
  • drafting of documentation as required;
  • preparing documents and briefs as required; and
  • other adhoc administration duties as required.

Aboutyou

You willideally have the following skills and experience:

  • minimum one year experience in a similar role;
  • paralegal experience is desirable;
  • experience in a busy insurance litigation practice is desirable;
  • highly organised;
  • excellent communication skills;
  • a strong ability to prioritise and meet deadlines;
  • experience in using legal billing system and client management program (eg. Aderant would be desirable but not required); and
  • experience in using document management system (eg iManage10 would be desirable but not required).
