Normal Work Schedule:Monday Friday 8:00am to 12:00pm

Job Summary:The Research Specialist PT works with departmental staff to design and conduct research projects on a parttime basis.

Additional Department Summary:The Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Alabama is seeking candidates for a Temporary Research Specialist position. This position is available to individuals with research interests in materials science and processmicrostructureproperty relationship. Demonstrates a record of academic achievement in research. Conducts research in the area of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) of nickelbased superalloys under the supervision of Dr. Keivan Davami. The goal is to explore and understand the strengthening and precipitate interactions.

Required Minimum Qualifications:Bachelors degree or higher.

Skills and Knowledge:Ability to conduct scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) as well as TEM sample preparation using a focused ion beam (FIB). Established record of peerreviewed publications in the materials science field.

Preferred Qualifications:Ph.D. or other terminal degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering or a closely related field. Experience in proposal writing.
