Chemours is seeking a Site Electrical Engineer to join our growing Thermal and Specialized Solutions team. This position will be available at the Chemours La Porte site located on the Houston Ship Channel and report directly to the Site Manufacturing Technology Manager.
This role will serve as the lead Site Electrical Engineer for the Chemours assets at this facility. The individual will provide overall Electrical guidance and support for the Operations Maintenance and Technology Teams for the site. This will entail involvement in daytoday troubleshooting in the plant as well as support for improvement programs in the areas of maintenance & repair UPTIME reliability cost safety new capital installations and more.
The responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:
Provide technical expertise in low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems including motor control centers switchgear relays sizing power cables Variable Frequency Drives etc.
Provides technical guidance and review for Electrical procedures programs and safe work practices
Serving as the Site Electrical Safety Professional
Provides troubleshooting expertise
Developing predictive and preventive maintenance procedures to ensure improved equipment reliability.
Providing followup on electrical & electronic equipment failures determining root cause and identifying actions to prevent recurrence.
Provides support for both cost and capital projects including scoping out justifying and coordinating installation of new/modified facilities
Recommending sourcing and ensuring proper installation of new electrical systems
Provides technical expertise to communicate/work with other internal and external Instrument and Electrical Engineers
Maintain level of technical expertise in key technologies via training seminars and professional organizations
Recommends and implements solutions to drive continuous improvement.
Assist with recommendations for equipment repair and replacement. Leads and participates in Incident Investigations.
Participates in Process Hazards Analyses.
Travel requirements are <10.
The following is required for this role:
US Citizen
BS in Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
Possess an understanding of National Electrical Code with emphasis in hazardous (electrically classified) locations.
Demonstrated work experience in the Electrical Engineering profession
Demonstrated work experience in the design specification and/or installation of electrical systems
Demonstrated work experience in power systems analysis and applications
Prior experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Prior experience working with field personnel in maintenance and troubleshooting activities
Proficient in the use of computers
Proven ability to manage short duration deadlines emergency situations and multiple priorities
Willing and able to wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) such as steel toes hard hat eye protection respirators etc.
The following is preferred for this role:
10 years of experience in the manufacturing industry.
Experience with Loss of Protection Analysis (LOPA)
Experience programming Variable Frequency Drives
Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) Certification.
Experience in chemical manufacturing
Superior Oral and Written skills.
