The Team
The Derivatives Technology Team is a crucial part of the Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) Technologies team. This is an opportunity to work in the exciting world of Capital markets. We are looking for an Application Support Analyst to join this dynamic team.
You will get the chance to contribute support & deliver solutions to Scotiabanks Derivative Trading & Sales desks globally. The team is responsible for managing applications that offer pricing risk electronic / algorithmic trading and trade capture functionalities to the Business.
Is this role right for you In this role you will:
- The role will involve 1st line application support responsibilities offering engagement with a broad range of stakeholders across Front & Middle Office Product Control Risk Management Back Office Application Development and Infrastructure teams.
- Responsible for monitoring triaging and remediation of production issues and requests in a timely manner based on priority.
- Expected to work with internal and external technology partners as well to conduct investigations resolve issues and perform/validate scheduled maintenance activities.
- Provide daytoday support on PXV (inhouse trading platform) to all units globally to resolve complex and multifaceted business problems including new and existing product and deal structuring adhoc queries and user training.
- The incumbent must have good knowledge of capital market and products such as derivatives.
- Continually acquire and enhance knowledge of the Divisions business strategies and policies risk management practices and methodologies product offerings financial markets financial instruments regulatory requirements Back Office processes and rapidly changing technology to be able to provide effective business solutions and services to the end user business lines.
- The incumbent must be a creative selfstarting results oriented and highly motivated individual with very good analytical skills to apply this knowledge to independently resolve business problems.
- The incumbent must have excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills to build consensus.
- Provide afterhours and weekend support via an oncall pager on a rotational basis.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role Wed love to work with you if you have:
- Good understanding of financial markets and products in particular derivative products.
- Good knowledge of SQL and familiarity of working in Unix/Linux environment.
- Experience with log analysis monitoring applications and vendor app analysis tools.
- Experience working in the capital market and more specifically Derivatives trading environment would be an asset.
- Relevant degree and at least 1 year of working experience in the finance or IT industry.
