Heres a Glimpse of the Job
The Research Technician I will be working on a sterol project including planting Arabidopsis for sterol experiments analyzing phytosterols fluorometrically and developing growth and seed harvest procedures for Medicago truncatula. Additionally the selected candidate will help develop infection strategies for symbiotic arbuscular mycorrhizae in Medicago truncatula. Another key focus will be studying cellautonomous calcium oscillations including light sheet analysis of calcium oscillations and investigating circadian rhythms in lowlight grown and etiolated freerunning Arabidopsis.
Opportunities to Contribute:
Work with graduate students on sterol project.
Work with graduate students on cellautonomous calcium oscillations.
Work on cell autonomous calcium oscillation circadian rhythms in lowlight grown and etiolated freerunning Arabidopsis.
Set up freerunning hypocotyl growth analysis with and without entrainment.
Measure cellular growth in freerunning Arabidopsis seedlings.
Correlate calcium oscillations with cellular growth.
Monitor lab organization and report on needs.
Qualifications:
High School diploma and two years of relevant experience.
Ability to carry plates to and from Conviron.
Ability to operate spectrophotometers and microscopes for greater than 2 h continuously.
A wellqualified candidate will also possess:
Bachelors degree in science from accredited college or university.
Experience with Nikon confocal microscopes and Zeiss Light sheet microscopes.
Experience with axenic culture of plant seedlings.
Able to do statistical analysis in R.
Familiarity with planting procedures for Medicago truncatula.
Interacts positively and professionally with others in the lab.
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidates education and experience.
Special Note: This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts as well as satisfactory job performance.
