Job Description Summary
We seek to hire an assistant professor with expertise in elementary social studies education and teacher education. We are interested in a faculty member whose teaching practice is undergirded by contemporary research within social studies and elementary teacher education; whose work demonstrates a strong commitment to equitable teaching practices social justice and diversity; who has an interest in and/or experience with practicebased teacher education; and who is eager to work collaboratively within the department across departments and within our universityschool partnerships. Responsibilities: teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to elementary social studies teaching; develop new courses to advance program delivery; advise graduate students; maintain active research and publication agendas; and collaborate to write grants and shape innovative programs. Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD or ABD if completed by August 15 2019 in teacher education or a related field with scholarly expertise in social studies education; successful social studies teaching experience in grades K8; and a potential for accomplishment in scholarship.
