Center Medical and Laboratory Director Part-time

Lighthouse Lab Services is thrilled to be working with a large plasma donation chain that is seeking aCenter Medical and Laboratory Director (MD) in Bakersfield CA.This positions purpose is to oversee donor safety and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations at our plasma donation center. This is an 18month contract position offering a competitive hourly rate of $175$250. This role requires an onsite for at least four 4 hours per weekduring business hours to perform essential medical oversight duties.

Responsibilities:

• Initial certification of all centers medical staff followed by annual recertifications.
• Must meet all the Federal CLIA requirements for licensing.
• Be available via phone or email for questions from the center that require clarification on an issue that is already covered in the written procedures.
• Visit their assigned center for a minimum of four 4 hours every week during business hours of the donor center. This could be distributed in one or two visits per week.
• During the onsite visits the CMD LD completes the following activities:
  • Donor electronic record file audits
  • Review of all medical communications
  • Electronic review and classification of donor adverse events
  • Review of select laboratory test results related to donor eligibility
  • Monthly direct observation of a member of the medical staff performing a donor eligibility evaluation a staff member completing the predonation donor screening and a staff member initiating and discontinuing the plasmapheresis process
  • Certification and recertification of center medical staff
  • Assessment of predonation screening staff performing total protein testing if serving as a Technical Consultant
  • Monthly medical education session with all center medical staff
  • Participation at center management meetings as a member of the center quality team
  • Laboratory Director responsibilities as outlined in the CLIA requirements

Requirements:

• MD or DO with an active and unrestricted medical license in California.

• Board Certification by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Clinical or/and Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine.

• Previous experience in transfusion medicine hematology or plasma collection preferred.

• Ability to work independently while collaborating with center staff and corporate medical teams.

• Onsite 4 hours a week.

Salary:

$175250/hr depending on experience
