GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Area Coordinators (ACs) at Pacific University are integral to the development of vibrant supportive and inclusive residential environments. Within the residence halls ACs apply student development principles and best practices in student affairs to foster belonging and a positive livinglearning experience for students. Area Coordinators actively engage with residents: providing guidance and contributing to a sense of community. ACs also participate in Pacific University Student Affairs divisional initiatives collaborating with colleagues to support universitywide goals.
Area Coordinators are generally appointed for a three year period with an opportunity for an extension at the discretion of the Associate Director for Campus Living. The Area Coordinators (ACs) position is a 12month livein position. Pacific University provides room and utilities.

JOB SCOPE
Performs position duties under direct supervision of Associate Director of Campus Living operating from established practices. Decisions are made within general University policy guidelines and may require some autonomous decisionmaking. Decisions of significant consequence are made in consultation with supervisor.
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY
Responsible for residential studentstaff members in assigned residence halls as well as other studentstaff or graduate studentstaff as assigned. Responsibility includes employee selection training development mentoring and/or corrective action managing leave requests and other studentstaff related concerns or needs.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES/ REQUIREMENTS:
The physical requirements at times requires; standing walking stooping kneeling bending crouching lifting walking climbing stairs carrying reaching pushing pulling talking hearing and other repetitive movements may be required. Working at a computer keyboard involving extensive wrist and hand movements. All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without a significant risk of injury to themselves or others or to otherwise demonstrate how they can perform the essential functions listed above.
