POSITION: Science Curriculum Implementation Specialist
LOCATION: DSST: Home Office located in Denver CO
SALARY: $77500 $94500 with up to 10 years of aligned experience
STATUS: 1 year fixed term contract Full time benefits eligible exempt inperson position (Denver CO)
START AND END DATES: July 15 2025 through June 30 2026.
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
DSST is rolling out a curriculum for our Middle School science program. The Curriculum Implementation Specialist will be the champion of this implementation in order to ensure that 100 of schools implement this curriculum effectively:
Implement the vision for curriculum implementation in Science and cotaught Science/ELD including systems for internalization of curriculum materials lesson preparation etc..
Plan the of curriculum training in collaboration with curriculum vendors and home office content directors.
Conduct quarterly observations of curriculum implementation in all middle school science classrooms.
Conduct quarterly partnership meetings at all schools with school instructional leaders in order to build a shared bar for instructional excellence and develop leader capacity for excellent implementation of curriculum
Support 24 strategically identified schools biweekly through the development of instructional leaders
Facilitate content professional development throughout the year designed to improve curriculum implementation for both teachers and leaders
Collaborate crossfunctionally with other Home Office leaders to achieve equitable outcomes for all students in middle school Science.
Partner with the MLE department to ensure integration of ELD into science classrooms and ensure supporting systems like coaching & coteaching are executed in alignment with our vision.
Partner closely with School Directors and other instructional leaders on curriculum implementation and analysis and action planning to further student outcomes.
Present progress of implementation of curriculum to Senior Leadership of the organization
Managing a curriculum implementation plan alongside a team of science & ELD leaders.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS
Proven commitment to and experience with serving students of color students with disabilities and/or multilingual students
7 Years of Professional Experience in Education
Central office leadership experience implementing curriculum at the school or central office level.
Masters degree in Content or Education field preferred
Experience with strategic planning and implementation resource development and allocation personnel and faculty development management and initiation of change;
Experience in developing & leading curriculum implementation
Demonstrated experience in coaching and development of leaders
Experience in curriculum development and new program development; skill in developing curriculum and educational programs both academic and technical educational programs;
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree
At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a school or charter management organization
5 years of professional education experience
3 years demonstrated curricular expertise
Depth of knowledge in NGSS and phenomena based teaching curriculum and assessment in science
Desire to personally and professionally grow in their practice of becoming an antiracist educator
An unwavering belief that all students can succeed in middle school reach their most ambitious postsecondary goals and lead exemplary lives
Demonstrated understanding of and a commitment to DSSTs mission and purpose teaching and learning and student success;
Selfawareness a regular practice of reflection and a desire to continuously improve
Proven track record of driving to results in content area(s)
Previous school leadership required ideally in a high performing school context
Demonstrated excellence in leading professional development
Skill in identifying problems analyzing data and making recommendations;
Skill in acquiring allocating and managing resources;
Skill in developing strategic instructional goals and objectives;
