Who we are
Texas A&M Athletics Department is committed to building champions through academic achievement athletic excellence and national recognition of studentathletes teams and programs. We are a proud member of the Southeastern Conference with more than 650 Texas A&M studentathletes competing at the NCAA Division 1A level in20 varsity sports.
What we want
We are seeking Academic Mentors for students in the Athletics Department at Texas A&M. The Academic Mentor will develop strategies for studentathletes individual learning style working with assigned studentathletes to develop a professional relationship to maximize their academic potential. This is a parttime/temporary opportunity with nonstandard hours and a Bachelors Degree is required.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
Bachelors degree.
Experience working with students in an academic environment.
Required Knowledge Abilities and Skills:
Must possess strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Willing to work nonstandard hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree.
Experience in the education system.
Responsibilities:
Work with assigned studentathletes to develop a professional relationship to maximize their academic potential.
Provide general instruction in study skills notetaking skills testtaking skills.
Guide studentathletes in the development of time management and in developing organizational skills.
Develop strategies for the studentathletes individual learning style.
Create daily progress reports using online system and may performs other duties as assigned.
Collaborate with Scholastic Supervisors and Learning Specialists about progress and individual student needs.
