A bachelors in biological sciences is required along with at least 5 years of practical fulltime laboratory experience. Masters degree in Biological sciences prefered.

Duties will be performed in a research laboratory. No direct patient contact will occur or be expected in the future.
Work will be conducted over a fortyhour workweek. Some schedule flexibility is possible but must overlap with the team a minimum of 46 hours/day.

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
The Research Lab Technologist will participate in a variety of ongoing basic science model development biocompatibility and translational studies. Must possess advanced laboratory skills including primary animal and human cell isolation cell and tissue culture light and fluorescence microscopy image processing and analysis rodent handling and anesthesia functional histological molecular biology and biochemical analyses.
Must have excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail and be capable of independent as well as collaborative work. Multitasking abilities flexibility and adaptability to changing and challenging environment are essential.
Under the general supervision of PI or higher level staff members the Technologist will carry out a broad range of research activities and procedures with some latitude to determine techniques and to establish protocols. The Technologist will perform lab procedures with speed precision and understanding of the theory behind these techniques and assays.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carry out a wide range of moderate to complex laboratory techniques including tissue harvesting cell isolation cell culture in vitro experiments implantation into small animals and animal testing gene expression and biochemical assay analyses fluorescent imaging as well as general laboratory support.
Collect and record study data synthesize and interpret information obtained from graphs charts laboratory experiments statistical summaries and other data collection methods. Interpret results and develop new investigative techniques and/or determine the most appropriate direction of research. Synthesis may involve use of computer programs as well as data entry into databases.
Develop modifications of existing assay techniques experimental protocols or new procedures.
Prepare written reports on research status technical procedures and research protocols. Must maintain a laboratory notebook with detailed description of experiments statistical and graphic summaries of findings and possible conclusions. Collaborate with supervisor in writing and editing material for publication and may appear as principal or secondary author on publications including organizing and drafting materials for publication and performing independent literature searches.
Prepare and present informal and formal reports for group and lab meetings.
Maintain and order supplies for the entire lab prepare solutions and implement lab safety protocols.
Solve equipment/supply problems and schedule maintenance as needed. Stay abreast of product/equipment information; make proposals to Principal Investigator for new equipment/products.
Participate in the upkeep of the lab including personal and general work spaces and help maintain an overall safe and clean environment. May perform or refer as needed routine maintenance of lab equipment including cleaning and replacing of parts. Report equipment malfunctions and needs to management.
Work safely within the lab environment and in performing work duties. Wear personal protective equipment as required.
Provide functional guidance and assistance to lower level technical personnel orient and train new Research Technicians and Fellows and teach moderately difficult to complex lab techniques to students and research personnel.
Work well in teameffort situations and independently with minimal supervision.
