Job Description

Minimum Education:
  • High school graduate or GED.
Required Skills:
  • Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Requires ability to read and write legibly and carry out directions promptly and accurately.
  • Must have good organizational skills and be able to work effectively and efficiently.
  • Must exhibit effective communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. It requires the ability to respond quickly and calmly during stressful or emergencies.
RequiredCertifications/Licenses:
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Current certification from Virginia or North Carolina as an EMT (or military equivalent i.e.: Military Occupational SpecialtyMedical Specialist MOS91B or 91W)
  • or active unrestricted Certified Nurses Aide (CNA) certification by the Virginia Board of Nursing required.
Applicants hired based on MOS equivalent must have completed state approved/recognized OEMS requirements for EMT or Virginia Board of Nursing Certification for CNA within 12 months of hire date.
Minimum Work Experience:
  • Prior experience as an ED Tech EMT or CNA in an Emergency Department setting or one year experience as a Clinical Associate at DRMC preferred.

Position Summary:

Sovah Health in Danville VA is seeking a fulltime ED TechnicianNights under the supervision of an RN to perform basic patient care

activities.

  • Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN including monitoring vital signs possibly taking blood glucose measurements and recording intake and output.
  • Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living including but not limited to bathing grooming eating and ambulation.
  • Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
  • Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked clean and orderly.
